Prototype version published!
After almost a year starting this little project, I've decided it's finally in a playable enough state to share it publicly ! :)
It has changed a whole lot since the last devlog; I dropped the whole visual novel stuff and instead made it entirely about sheep, as well as reworking the gameplay to be more fun.
Current Features
- Main game: Herd your sheep and help them survive as long as possible! Try to get a high score!
- Coins: Collect coins and exchange them for sheep. With more sheep, it'll be easier to survive longer in the game!
- Settings: Mute audio. Yes I'm putting this as a feature because it was a bit tricky to figure out how to implement this, as I've never done this before.
As you can see, the game is a bit bare-bones right now, but it's playable! With a gameplay loop (kind of)! Which was my first goal for this project.
Since I have reached the first milestone I set for Sheep Don't Swim, now I have to set a bunch more... Which brings us to...
Planned Features
- How to Play screen in option menu
- Seperate mute options for music and SFX
- Special sheep - You can buy special sheep at the sheep shop, which do things like increase the chance for coins, or make the floods less frequent. These are of course more expensive
- Sheep cosmetics - Hats? Skins? Something so you can customize each sheep in your herd.
- Sheep naming ? Maybe.. - You can name each sheep in your herd.
- Display your sheep - Special screen to display your herd
- Revamped art and UI - Most of the current assets are placeholders, which I plan to replace with something better... at some point.
- Missions, goals or something - Specific things you can do to earn more coins, like "Make it to round 10 with all of your sheep" for example.
That's all of the things I currently plan to add, I think.
